RYAN SHECKLER AND RYAN NYQUIST WIN AST DEW TOUR RIGHT GUARD
OPEN,
THE
SECOND EVENT OF THE 2007 SEASON
CLEVELAND,
Ohio. - Ryan Sheckler and Ryan Nyquist continued
their domination on the AST Dew Tour collecting their
second consecutive event titles in Skateboard Park and
BMX Dirt competition on Friday, July 20 at the Right Guard
Open, the second event on the 2007 AST Dew Tour at Clevelands
North Coast Harbor.
Sheckler,
17, of San Clemente, Calif., distanced himself from the
rest of the Skateboard Park field with an average score
of 94.00. A duo of Brazilian skaters rounded out the top
three with Rodolfo Ramos scoring an 87.92 and Carlos
De Andrade earning an 86.17. After two events, Sheckler
leads the Skateboard Park tour standings with 200 points,
followed by Ramos at 130 and De Andrade in third at 126.
It
feels great to have won two in a row, said Sheckler,
the back-to-back Dew Tour champion. Im trying
to win every event this season, I keep telling people
that. I just give thanks to God for keeping me healthy
and on the top of my game. Im looking forward to
the next three stops, and hopefully I can win those too.
Im on a mission."
Nyquist
of Los Gatos, Calif., completed a flawless final run to
overtake Corey Bohan and Luke Parslow of
Australia to capture his second event title in as many
events. Nyquist finished with a final score of 91.08.
Bohan followed close behind at 90.42 and Parslow at 89.67.
After two events, Nyquist leads the BMX Dirt tour standings
with 200 points, followed by Cameron White at 130 and
Bohan in third at 124.
Im
definitely off to a great start, said Nyquist. Im
definitely happy. I had kind of a scare in the second
run and knew the 720 was a risky move, but Im glad
I was able to pull it off. It was a great competition
and weve had some amazing runs this season.
Nyquist
noted that he would donate his winnings, $15,000, to the
Stephen Murray Recovery Fund to help Murray, who
suffered a career-ending injury at the Panasonic Open
last month.
The
four-day competition is the second of five events of the
AST Dew Tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle
motocross. Saturday's action features BMX Park and Skateboard
Vert finals, while the Sunday schedule includes Freestyle
Motocross and BMX Vert finals.
