Dutch National REDLINE
BMX
Team Dominates, Both Days
The
Dutch National Redline Team (D.N.R.T.) had a clean sweep
at rounds 9 & 10 of the European BMX championships 2007.
On both Saturday and Sunday the podium spots were taken
by members of the D.N.R.T. Also in the junior womens
class the top spot was taken by a member of the D.N.R.T.
squat.
Racing
commenced during heavy rain. But that didnt affect
the mindset of the D.N.R.T. riders. Everybody was feeling
strong and ready to make this weekend a memorable one.
To make a long story short, after 2 days of racing the
D.N.R.T went home with 11 ! spots in the elite finals,
including 2 bronze medals (Elite men), 2 silver medals
(Elite men) and 4 golden medals (2 in Junior Elite women
and 2 in Elite men). Add those up and youll figure
that the orange and blue Dutch Redline riders owned every
spot on the podium; both days.
On
Saturday and Sunday it was Lieke Klaus, who after
a rough start of the season, took the gold in the Junior
Elite Womens class. Meanwhile in the Elite Mens class,
history was made while half the gate in the final was
taken by orange Redline jerseys. Arno Kanis took
the gold, Rob vd WildenBerg took the silver and
Martijn Scherpen took the bronze, while Ivo
vd Putten rode away with a 7th place finish.
On Sunday the record set on Saturday, was quickly broken
with 5 (count em FIVE!) out of the 8 spots
on the gate were in orange Redline jerseys! This time
round, it was Martijn Scherpen who took the
win, followed by Rob vd Wildenberg and Sander
Bisseling nabbing 3rd place (breaking his spell of
bad luck, so far this year). Ivo vd Putten finished
5th, while Saturdays winner Arno Kanis took a bad
crash and finished 8th.
In
the Euro Series overall standings, the D.N.R.T riders
are sitting in 2nd with Rob vd Wildenberg, 4th
with Ivo v Putten and in 6th with Martijn Scherpen.
In
3 weeks the final 2 races are being held in Romans, France
- and the European Champion will be crowned.
